What is Tyne and Wear Infrastructure Consortium - let’s break that down……..
By infrastructure, we don’t mean roads or buildings. We mean all the support that voluntary and community groups, charities, social enterprises, co-operatives and mutual’s (i.e. third sector) need top operate effectively. This support might be funding advice, governance, help with finances, training and more specialist support such as mediation or public relations. The consortium is a partnership of organisations that have come together to co-ordinate this infrastructure support.
Why do we need consortium?
Quality: by working together, we can make sure that the support offered to the third sector is of the same high quality across Tyne & Wear.
Reach: we need a consortium in order to reach into the sector and represent it whenever a need arises.
Influence: it’s becoming more and more important that the third sector is able to influence the public sector about opportunities for delivering services – this is something the consortium can do.
